Stegreif – The Improvising Symphony Orchestra

Stegreif see the music of former times as a paragon and an inspiration. In productions that combine musical and theatrical elements, the musicians will be joined by representatives from the adjacent arts to deal with the great issues of our times, creating new and unexpected connections. “#bechange” is informed by the work of four renowned female composers. Wilhelmine von Bayreuth was admired for her Baroque operas during her lifetime; the mystic Hildegard von Bingen is considered to be the first well-known female composer altogether. There is also a focus on Clara Schumann and the symphonic composer Emilie Mayer, two important musical characters from the 19th century. “#bechange” will celebrate its conclusion by taking stock of its artistic work so far in workshops and concerts: After its premiere at Beethovenfest Bonn, the “symphony of change” will return to the place of its funding in a performance at Berlin.
