It remains unresolved, whether AI is sentient in itself, or merely spits out randomised unconscious data points. Perhaps it is both, but is the human any different? The panel discussion seeks to bridge the often-propagated divide between the notion of AI as a tool or a sentient being by focussing on the practices that interface the human-machine relationship. How does a speculative practice that reimagines AI help to change our understanding of what AI could be and do? And how does “being with” machines potentially enable a way to question the reductive narrative of machines as disembodied or objective and rational, as somehow separate from culture?
