In this guided tour, Clara Meister, co-curator of the exhibition Circles of Light, gives insight into Nancy Holt's artistic practice.

Over the course of five decades, Nancy Holt explored how we perceive our environment and how we attempt to understand our place on the surface of this planet. Holt reframed what art can be and where it can be found. Her artistic practice, writings and ideas built the ground from which many strands of contemporary art have grown. Clara Meister will delve deeper into Circles of Light, the artist’s most comprehensive survey exhibition in Germany to date, including film, video, photography, sound works, concrete poetry, sculptures and expansive installations as well as drawings and documentation from over 25 years.

Clara Meister is fascinated by language and music and wrote her dissertation on the human voice. She is co-founder of the exhibition collective SOUNDFAIR, was curator of the MINI/Goethe-Institut Curatorial Residency Ludlow 38 in New York and curated the performance programme for the Marrakech Biennale MB5. She is co-founder of the online magazine ment. At the Gropius Bau, Meister was Associate Curator to the Director’s Office and is currently involved in the development of an app for accessible translation as a curator and project lead of the Programme on Artificial Intelligence.
