For the solo exhibition of Rirkrit Tiravanija’s DAS GLÜCK IST NICHT IMMER LUSTIG we warmly invite you to make music as part of the artwork untitled 1996 (rehearsal studio no. 6, open version).

From 12 September 2024 you can jam, practise, record and perform on every day of the exhibition in the rehearsal studio equipped with instruments, microphones, amplifiers and pedals on the Gropius Bau's first floor.

Registration for the rehearsal studio will be open four weeks in advance.

About the work

In his works, Tiravanija often creates situations in which people meet and interact with each other. untitled 1996 (rehearsal studio no. 6, open version) is a replica of the New York rehearsal studio in which the artist occasionally jammed with friends. The work invits visitors to engage in basic forms of communication and to become active themselves.

Note on recordings

All demos recorded in the rehearsal studio will be permanently archived as part of untitled 1996 (rehearsal studio no. 6, open version). The recordings will be made available to the public on the installation's iPad for the duration of the exhibition and for future presentations of this work. The recording will remain your intellectual property and will not be sold or otherwise distributed. If you choose to record a demo you will receive a copy of your recording at the email address associated with your Calendly booking. You can also choose to play music without a recording.
