On the occasion of the opening of DAS GLÜCK IST NICHT IMMER LUSTIG, Rirkrit Tiravanija invites chefs from the Berlin street food market and community event Thaipark to share their favorite dishes and concerns with visitors. Throughout the week, dishes from different regions of Thailand can be savoured.

Throughout Rirkrit Tiravanija's artistic practice, the term "demonstration" appears in multiple meanings. It can refer to various forms of political gathering and action, but also to the showcasing of an interest or a particular talent. During the opening week of the exhibition DAS GLÜCK IST NICHT IMMER LUSTIG, Tiravanija invites the chefs of Thaipark to prepare dishes based on their own recipes. The popular food market and community meeting place in Berlin-Wilmersdorf has been in danger of closure for years. Over the course of the week, the chefs will present and offer tastings of dishes from Thailand's four regions.

Thaipark began in 1992 as a picnic of German-Thai families who met in Preussenpark to cook and share meals and is now a meeting place for the Southeast Asian community and a popular street food market. It is organised by the vendors themselves and has a large loyal fan base that regularly supports the event, which is threatened by displacement, with protests and expressions of solidarity.
