Vladyslav Sendecki

Vladyslav Sendecki is – besides Tomasz Stanko – one of the few musicians who build a living bridge between the legendary Polish jazz scene of the seventies and the contemporary jazz development. With bands such as Extraball and Sun Ship he displayed skills as a versatile jazzrock pianist, playfully transferring the acquisitions of Chick Corea und Keith Jarrett into a genuine Polish context. With Zbigniew Namyslowski’s group he gained first international recognition.

In 1981 he emigrated to the former West where he soon gained ground as keyboarder with Klaus Doldinger’s Passport. He has since been working with the likes of Billy Cobham, Michal Urbaniak, Charlie Mariano and Larry Coryell and is a fixed member of the NDR Big Band since 1996. Sendecki can rightfully be described as curious, critical and sensitive – and so is his music. “I feel that the world of today is often too cold and deadhearted. I hope that people may gain a little bit of sensibility with the help of my music.”
