Julien Desprez doesn’t hide behind the powerful sound of his instrument: the electric guitar. For him, the guitar has become a controller which he uses to fluctuate between contrasting levels of light and sound, while he explores the physical and mental space, making it soar and tremble at the same time. Rigid performance tableaus break open, come apart, and begin to stagger. Following his duet with Rob Mazurek, the French guitarist will perform with François Riffaud on electric bass and drummer Max Andrzejewski from Berlin.

The Abacaxi formation presents an intensely abrupt electric sound sculpture with a sharp edge and shrill brilliance, scraped out of the idiom of rock. Bright noise embedded in a choreography of pulsing light: a wild and innovative perspective on seemingly immutable, engrained rock riffs – somewhere between the late 60's rock and sound art, and a world premiere to boot!
