Concert | Berlin-based Orchestras
For more than a decade, Daniel Barenboim has been chief conductor of Staatskapelle Berlin, who under his leadership gained a reputation as a first-class orchestra in the world musical scene, being nominated “orchestra of the year” several times by the trade press, and performing its concert and opera cycles to great acclaim worldwide.
Main event of the programme for Musikfest Berlin will be Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, interpreted by Lang Lang, a veritable shooting star of recent years. The framework will be provided by two subtle versions of “Pelleas and Melisande” by Maurice Maeterlinck, who inspired a whole generation of composers with his romantic-symbolic drama.
