The second solo concert with Mark Andre's music explores the tonal possibilities of piano and double bass. The new work "iv 'Sie fürchteten sich nämlich'" was created in close collaboration with double bassist Frank Reinecke and takes us to the limits of the audible.
It is easy for things to disappear suddenly and without a trace. Yet there is another way. Music in particular can celebrate the transition from one dimension to another, can cross thresholds and leave its mark in the process. Mark Andre is a composer who essentially focuses on the most fleeting moments. For the past four years, he has been working with Munich double bassist Frank Reinecke on a solo that goes to the heart of the instrument, bringing out its light and fragile side. It is the "observation of a music on the verge of disappearing," as mindful and poetic as it is sober and materialistic. Mark Andre observes and discovers each instrument with the precision of an explorer. In doing so, for him, matter and spirit are no opposites. After all, music resonates in the here and now. At its edge, however—often when it fades out—we discover what Mark Andre is looking for in each of his works: traces that are not of this world.
