manuel arturo abreu improvises a sonic composition accompanying the reading of their recently published poetry book two versions of a stone castle. During the event, they explore resonances and dissonances latent in the musicality of speech.
The book deepens abreu’s exploration of religion and the history of ideas. The poetic intention of the text is to free sound from its imposed function to carry meaning. Instead, abreu understands sound as an archive of nonlinear temporalities. two versions of a stone castle is published by home school press and risograph printed in collaboration with Sharita Towne at nůn studios in Northeast Portland.
manuel arturo abreu (b. 1991, Santo Domingo) is a non-disciplinary artist working with what is at hand in a process of magical thinking with attention to ritual aspects of aesthetics
