21 to 27 September 2024

51 ensembles from 12 federal states have submitted their productions for the 11th Tanztreffen der Jugend. The dance productions submitted were created in a variety of contexts, such as schools, ballet or dance schools, dance houses, theatres, the independent scene or in conjunction with associations or youth cultural institutions. The Forum programme is now online and you can register from 19 June. 
The selection for the Tanztreffen der Jugend 2024 has been made.

1 to 8 June 2024

95 ensembles from all over Germany have submitted their productions for the 45th&nbsp;Theatertreffen der Jugend. The applicants come from all 16&nbsp;federal states and have developed their productions in schools, youth cultural institutions, municipal and state theatres, community theatres and independent theatre groups and venues.

The Treffen junge Szene hosted by Berliner Festspiele are aimed at young artists between the ages of 11 and 21 who are active in the fields of theatre, dance, music and literature. The meetings of the winners of the previous national contests in Berlin present the artistic work of the young generation are an opportunity for the exchange of ideas, for development and for self-reflection.

As a long-standing media partner of the Theatertreffen, 3sat presents specially produced television recordings of three productions invited to the festival in its programme under the title &ldquo;Starke St&uuml;cke&rdquo;. The recordings of &ldquo;Bucket List&rdquo;, &ldquo;Laios. ANTHROPOLIS II&rdquo; and &ldquo;Macbeth&rdquo; are accessible in the Media Library until 30 August 2024 (&ldquo;Bucket List&rdquo; until 2 May 2027).

To mark its 60th anniversary, Jazzfest Berlin is celebrating the cultural diversity of the neighbouring district of Moabit in collaboration with around 35 official partners and initiatives and with over 350 participants of all ages.&nbsp;In June 2024, interviews were conducted with 20 partners who presented their perspectives, wishes and ideas for the Jazzfest Community Lab Moabit. The international Jazzfest Research Lab&nbsp;welcomes academics and students to take a critical look at the festival&rsquo;s archive, its programmes, creators, musicians and &ndash; last but not least &ndash; its myths. In two seminars during the summer semester of 2024, students from the Berlin University of the Arts and the University of Hildesheim have explored the festival&rsquo;s history from various perspectives. In this film, the participants give a first look at how they dealt with their research subject.

The 10 Remarkable Productions 2024

On 26 January, the Theatertreffen&rsquo;s jury of critics announced their selection of 10 remarkable productions for the 2024 Theatertreffen at a press conference. Our congratulations go to the nominated production teams and all participants! The programme will be published on 5 April.

&ldquo;Radical Playgrounds&rdquo;, an art parcours at the Gropius Bau, is spending eleven weeks exploring the differences between the concepts of play as competition and free play. Visitors are invited to walk and climb on the various installations and sculptures, to activate them and to shape the project collectively.

Berlin is known for its numerous &ldquo;Spielpl&auml;tze&rdquo; for kids, but the project &ldquo;Radical Playgrounds&rdquo; is a place where play gets serious.&nbsp;It arrives at Gropius Hain for eleven weeks like an itinerant, temporary funfair: both melancholic and light-hearted, sad and joyful, funny and serious.&nbsp;

<h3>Nancy Holt:&nbsp;Circles of Light</h3>

Over the course of five decades, Nancy Holt explored how we perceive our environment and how we attempt to understand our place on the surface of this planet. From March 2024, the Gropius Bau presents Circles of Light, the artist&rsquo;s most comprehensive survey exhibition in Germany to date. It includes film, video, photography, sound works, concrete poetry, sculptures and expansive installations as well as drawings and documentation from over 25 years.

With How Love Moves, the Gropius Bau presents the first major institutional solo exhibition of Pallavi Paul. Through her multimedia practice spanning film, installation, performance, drawing, photography and writing, she negotiates the documentary not only conjured as film or image &ndash; but as an ecology of materials, networks, global alliances and systems.
