Lukas Holzhausen

Lukas Holzhausen was born in Männedorf, Switzerland, in 1967. He trained as an actor at Schauspielakademie Zurich In 1992 and 1993, he performed as a guest actor at Schauspielhaus Zurich. He was a member of the acting company at Schauspielhaus Graz from 1993 to 2000, at Theater Bremen in 2000/2001, at Schauspiel Frankfurt from 2001 to 2003, at Schauspiel Köln from 2003 to 2007, at Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg from 2007 to 2011, at Schauspielhaus Zurich from 2011 to 2015 and at Volkstheater in Vienna from 2015 to 2019. As well as acting, he has also directed plays, for instance the devised project “Schnitzler – Unter uns” (2005, Schauspiel Köln) and the world premiere of Lothar Kittstein’s “Die Sorglosen” (2007, Schauspiel Köln). At Volkstheater in Vienna, he staged Alan Ayckbourn’s “Halbe Wahrheiten (Relatively Speaking)” in 2015/16, “Die Henker (Hangmen)” by Martin McDonagh in 2016/17 and Gotthold Ephraim Lessing’s “Emilia Galotti” in 2017/18. In 2017 he was nominated for the Dorothea-Neff-Award in the category of Best Performance. In 2017 and 2019, he was nominated for the Nestroy-Prize for Best Actor.

He joined the acting company of Schauspiel Hannover in 2019/20. He can be seen in “Don Karlos“, „Amphitryon“ and „Die Tagesordnung“ and has staged “Aufzeichnungen aus dem Kellerloch“, “Bei nassem Schnee“ and “Ein Mann seiner Klasse”. “Ein Mann seiner Klasse” has been invited to the 2022 Berlin Theatertreffen.
