Berliner Festspiele are made of many histories. One of them begins on 5 September 1951, when the first Berliner Festwochen, as they were originally called, opened at the Schiller-Theater.

Taking place both online and offline, the Gropius Bau’s first programme on artificial intelligence (AI) focuses on AI’s utopian and poetic possibilities.
Since October 2023, the Berliner Festspiele hosts an annual “Performing Arts Season” that presents a panorama of international dance, theatre and performance productions at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and the Gropius Bau through the autumn and winter months.

Under the title of “Reflexes and Reflections. 7 October, the war in Gaza and the debate in Germany)”, a series of four themed days at Haus der Berliner Festspiele attempted to build a bridge both between artistic and discursive events and apparently more and more irreconcilable political positions.
