In this workshop, refugees with great craftsmanship share their knowledge. At the same time, the intention is to spend time with each other and to form a small community. Creating together and sharing skills is like returning to the past, like looking to the past for the key for survival in the present.

This event is part of the Transfeminist Treffen.

Imagine you can weave a unique fabric that speaks about your emotions, about you – who you are, how you feel, what you need; would you like to cover your body with a warm blanket, or would you prefer a light, airy wrap? Or, perhaps, you would need a sturdy, rigid fabric? Feel the texture, see the colours, plan the design – the pattern, touch the yarn threads. But first, build your own loom.

The weaving workshop is the idea of Kolektyw Grupa Analog, which started organising itself in March, when refugees from Ukraine arrived at Poznań’s central train station. Some migrants stayed in Poznań for a longer period of time, perhaps permanently, so the group’s performance evolved from ad hoc assistance into long-term cooperation in many fields: artistic, social and activist. The collective’s members are people fleeing the violence of war (Ukraine) and authoritarianism (Belarus), often together with their children, which is why the collective is based on mutual support and care, in addition to creative work. It organises workshops, fundraising events, Polish language lessons, film meetings, and excursions. Workshops are led by Ukrainian, Belarusian and Polish women.
