Participant International Forum 2020/2021
Thorben Meißner got his Bachelor’s degree in Theatre and Communication Studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. His first internships were at Münchner Kammerspiele in productions by Alexander Giesche and Gob Squad. Then he worked as junior assistant dramaturg at Ruhrtriennale 2016, before becoming an assistant dramaturg at Residenztheater Munich for two seasons, where he worked as a dramaturg with Nikolaus Habjan, Blanka Rádóczy and Hannes Köpke. He was also part of the international writers residency programme “World/Stage”, where he was part of developing new works by artists including Maria Milisavljevic, Susanna Fournier and Pat To Yan. Since the 2018/19 season Thorben Meißner has been working as a dramaturg at Theaterhaus Jena. There he tries to realise, together with the actors’ collective Wunderbaum, the utopia of a municipal theatre where every actor is seen as an equal part of the collective, deciding on the way of working as well as renewing the idea of the Stadttheater by doing city-specific works.
