Ameen Mokdad, born 1989 in Baghdad, graduated from the University of Mosul in 2013. He attended the Agriculture and Forestry College, has lived in the city of Mosul in the north of Iraq from 2003 until after the ISIS occupation, started learning and making music in 2009, has been composing music for films and theatre plays since 2014, has been acting and directing experimental theatre plays since 2017, has been working as music teacher and conductor since 2018, and founded the Light Orchestra in the city of Mosul in 2019. With the Iraqi director Mounir Salah, he has been working on the short film “Haiku” (2020) which was nominated for several awards at the Golden Bridge Istanbul Short Film Festival 2021. He has been working as a composer and performing musician in the play “Taqasim Ala Alhayat” by the Iraqi director Jawad al-Asadi based on the novel “Ward No. 6” by Anton Chekhov with presentations at the 2. Baghdad International Theater Festival (11/2021), the 11. Arab Theater Festival in Cairo (01/2019), the 54. International Festival of Carthage (12/2018) and the Muntada Theater in Baghdad (05/2018). He has been creating street performances as musician and dancer since 2017 in the cities of Iraq in a personal cultural project and has been a member of TARKIB Baghdad Contemporary Arts Institute since 2017.
