Mieke Matzke
Mieke Matzke was born in 1972 and lives in Hildesheim and Berlin. She has worked with the performance collective She She Pop since she was a student of Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen. Works which have been created in this context include the productions ‘She She Pop: Live. Successful People in 45 Minutes’ (1999), ‘BAD’ (2002), ‘Why Aren’t You Dancing?’ (2004) and ‘Testament’ (2010). ‘Testament’ won the Friedrich Luft Prize, the Goethe Institut Prize at the Festival Impulse and was invited to the 2011 Berlin Theatertreffen. Mieke Matzke worked as a research fellow at the Institute for Media and Theatre in Hildesheim and the Free University Berlin. She completed her Doctorate in 2004 with a work on forms of staging oneself and has conducted post-doctoral research on the history of theatre rehearsal. Mieke Matzke has been Professor of Theatre Studies at the University of Hildesheim since 2009, where she teaches the theory and practice of theatre.
