Claudia Bauer

Claudia Bauer was the first West German student to study directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. From 1999 to 2004, she was director of Theaterhaus Jena and from 2005 to 2007, together with Enrico Lübbe, she was in-house director at Neues Theater Halle. She has directed productions at Staatstheater Stuttgart, Münchner Kammerspiele, Volksbühne Berlin, Schauspiel Graz, Theater Basel and Schauspiel Dortmund, among others. Since 2015, Claudia Bauer has been in-house director at Schauspiel Leipzig.

Claudia Bauer has already been invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen with five productions: “89/90” based on the novel by Peter Richter at Schauspiel Leipzig (2017), “Tartuffe oder Das Schwein der Weisen” by Peter Licht based on Molière at Theater Basel (2019), “Süßer Vogel Jugend” by Tennessee Williams at Schauspiel Leipzig (2020) and “humanistää!” based on Ernst Jandl at Volkstheater in Vienna (2022).
