Riyadhus Shalihin – artistic director, performance and video artist – lives in Bandung, Indonesia. He graduated from the Faculty of Performing Arts at Indonesian Art and Culture Institute of Bandung (ISBI). Currently he is pursuing his master’s degree in curatorship at the Faculty of Art and Design of Bandung Institute of Technology. In 2016 he co-founded Bandung Performing Arts Forum (BPAF). Shalihin’s works focus on research-based performances using methods of examining spaces, personal and public memories and archive materials as well. Among Shalihin’s projects with the BPAF are “Us Not Us” (2018, Yogyakarta), a study and observation of an evicted housing complex in Rancacili and a collaboration with Prof. Leow Puay Tin of Sunway University, Malaysia, and “Once Upon a Time: The Fallen Boat” (2019-ongoing, Bandung), a cooperation with Théâtre Muibo, Tokyo exploring a potential relation between the legend of mountain Tangkuban Perahu and actual environmental problems. His solo work includes the lecture performances “The Owl” (2018, Tokyo), which was presented at the OWLSPOT Theater in Tokyo.
