Carlos Gutiérrez Quiroga (La Paz-Bolivia, 1982). Director of the Experimental Orchestra of Indigenous Instruments (OEIN), composer and researcher.
He has composed several pieces especially for the OEIN and also for other instrumental formations. His musical work has been extended to the creation of instruments and sound objects and the investigation of native music especially of the Aymara and Quechua tradition. He is also interested in exploring the influence of indigenous music in the composition process understood as an integrality that includes acoustic technologies, forms of montage and interrelation of the performers and also the interpretation and perception of music. His compositions have also been performed by the EMN (La Paz), the duo Wapiti (Bogotá-Montreal), Via Nova Chor (Munich), the Curious Chamber Players (Stockholm), Ensemble Face the Music (New York) and the vocal soloists ensemble PHØNIX16 (Berlin). He also composed music for film and theatre. In 2018 he has been chosen to participate in the Artists in Berlin Program (Berliner Künstlerprogramm) of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
