Anne Kohler

Anne Kohler is a professor of choral conducting at the Detmold University of Music. There she directs the chamber choir as well as the vocal ensemble Pop-Up and supervises a major class of choral conductors. Her ensembles are characterised by liveliness, vocal quality, stylistic diversity and innovative programming. She has rehearsed for Pierre Boulez, Marcus Creed, Ingo Metzmacher and Roger Norrington, among others, with the Rundfunkchor Berlin and SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart. As an adjudicator and lecturer for voice training, choral conducting and jazz choral conducting she is internationally successful. Anne Kohler's work is characterized by stylistic range and flexibility in dealing with different vocal sound ideals.

With her choirs she has often been first prize winner at national and international competitions, like the German Choir Competition, CantaRode (NL) or the Aarhus Vocal Festival (DK). Anne Kohler is a member of the Advisory Board of the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council.
