Raed Yassin

Raed Yassin was born in Beirut in 1979, where he graduated from the Theatre department at the Lebanese University in Beirut. Yassin is a visual artist as well as a video and sound artist. He also plays contrabass and works with electronics and audiotape, both independently and together with other international performance and improvisation artists. His works deal with such diverse topics as urbanism, the history of contemporary art, Arab cinema, pornography and the Lebanese civil war. Yassin’s work is both private and political, amusing and disturbing and influenced by both conceptual art and pop culture. Raed Yassin’s work has gained recognition in the Middle East, Europe, the USA and Japan.
