Ewelina Marciniak has been realising plays in Poland since 2008 and has received several awards, including the renowned polish award Paszport Polityki in 2016. Besides directing contemporary dramas by Roland Schimmelpfennig, Elfriede Jelinek and others, Marciniak has adapted several novels for the theatre stage, such as Michel Houellebecq’s “The Map and the Territory”. In January 2018 Marciniak debuted in Germany at Theater Freiburg with William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. In the season 2019/20 she directed Szczepan Twardoch’s “The Boxer” at Thalia Theater in Hamburg, for which she won the German theatre award DER FAUST in 2020. She connects new ways of storytelling with exploring female perspectives on theatre plays. With “Die Jungfrau von Orleans” she was invited to the 2022 Theatertreffen.
As of March 2022
