Choreographer, dancer – Tehran, Iran
Participant International Forum 2018

Saghar Hosseinpour was born in Tehran in 1986. She studied Economics while also studying experimental dance techniques in Tehran. She began making her own performances in 2012 and was invited to Vienna to be part of the ImPulsTanz - Vienna International Dance Festival as a danceWEB scholar in 2015. This became the starting point for her to develop a long-term research-based project. A year later she received a scholarship from the Goethe-Institut to participate in a three month SMASH intensive programme in Berlin and began to collaborate with artists from different countries. A duet she created in collaboration with a Slovak choreographer was funded by a Slovak organization. The artists worked together online for a year and again in Germany in 2017 in order to present their piece in Bratislava in November. This year she also worked on an international residency at the Fajr Festival in Tehran. Her current concern is to research everyday movement in society, to study and observe the physicality, weight, composition and statics related to political cultural factors. Her main interest is to create movement out of a task derived from real daily action. She proposes choreography that creates embodiment out of clear tasks.
