Katja Kipping was born in 1978 and has been committed to safeguarding social guarantees and social-economic transformation for around a quarter of a century. She has been active as a party leader, in movements, as a member of state and federal parliaments and in her native city of Dresden. Her publications include books on the future of democracy and on the Green New Deal as a package for the future. As a senator for social issues in Berlin, she was in charge of organising the arrival of refugees from Ukraine as well as of initiatives of the relief package including the Network of Warmth and the hardship fund for energy debts. Currently, she is completing a graduate course in human resource management and is using her qualification as a lifeguard to teach children to swim.
