The Performance Bar
The Performance Bar is an initiative by Daniel van den Broeke and Florian Borstlap. Daniel van den Broeke is a multi-artist who is involved in a range of fields such as theatre, performance and film making. Florian works as an autonomous artist and performer and also leads an existence as captain of a ship. Together they share a passion for outrageous performances. With The Performance Bar they realise a longstanding dream to create an exciting hub for performance art. In 2014 they started as a spontaneous invention on a theatre festival when they put a lid on the bar they had just fabricated from scrap wood, an old bathtub and a musical organ. After a 5 day successful trial they decided to build a new more sustainable version which skyrocketed into the Rotterdam art-scene due to the invitation of a permanent residency at WORM, a well known centre for avantgardistic art in Rotterdam.
