Roshanak Rafani

Roshanak Rafani was born in Tehran in 1994. In addition to European instruments, the percussionist plays the Iranian percussion instruments daf, dayere and tombak. Since 2018, she has been studying percussion with Dominic Oelze at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin.

Rafani was a member of the Nilper Symphony Orchestra with Navid Gohari, the Austro-Iranian Symphony Orchestra (AISO) with Christian Schulz and Mazyar Younesi, the Tehran Cultural Orchestra with Nader Mashayekhi as well as the Junge Philharmonie Berlin with Julien Salemkour and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra with Daniel Barenboim.

Since 2013, she has collaborated with various musicians and ensembles at music festivals and concerts in Europe and Asia as a soloist or guest musician, including Cymin Samawatie, Stefan Temmingh, Bakr Khleifi, Atine, Asambura Ensemble, Pierre Boulez Ensemble, as well as with Majid Derakhshani and the Asman Ensemble. In 2016, she founded the Tehran Percussion Ensemble together with colleagues. Roshanak Rafani teaches Daf and Tombak in Berlin.
