Sophie Emilie Beha works in various contexts, including music, text, language, curation, improvisation, dramaturgy and poetry. She is a writer and presenter for various public broadcasters. She also writes regularly for newspapers and various journals. Her focus is on contemporary as well as trans-traditional music, jazz and classical music. Both on stage and in front of the camera, she moderates festivals, concert introductions, podcasts and panel discussions. In Cologne, she curates concerts and festivals at Stadtgarten and co-founded the interdisciplinary festival guterstoff. She is also the dramaturg of the singer’s collective PHØNIX16 in Berlin and a member of the experimental vocal ensemble Γλωσσα (Glossa), with which she won the Karl Sczuka Research Fellowship in 2022. In 2021 she was nominated for the German Jazz Journalism Award and since 2022 her curatorial work has been supported by NICA artist development.
