Anna Clementi studied the flute, acting and voice in Rome before switching to the University of the Arts Berlin, where she met composer Dieter Schnebel. Since then, she has frequently worked with the ensemble Dieter Schnebel founded: Die Maulwerker. Anna Clementi’s repertoire moves between contemporary acoustic works, music theatre, electro-acoustics and club music. She has placed a special focus on the work of John Cage as it offers her the possibility of researching the relationship between song, word, gesture and theatre in ever new ways, as the artist herself states. Anna Clementi sees herself as an actress of the voice, playing with it with great virtuosity and, in doing so, constantly unlocking new kinds of sounds.
