Rodrik Biersteker is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily with video and interactive technologies in a theatrical context. Born in 1986 in the Netherlands, Biersteker studied Design for Virtual Theatre and Games at the HKI University of Arts in Utrecht. In addition to his own installations and performances, Biersteker collaborates with various artists. In collaboration with Susanne Kennedy, he created video works for “Orfeo” as part of the Ruhrtriennale 2015. In 2016, Biersteker collaborated with Susanne Kennedy and Markus Selg for the cinematic realisation of “Medea.Matrix” (Ruhrtriennale) and in 2020 for the realisation of “Ultraworld” (Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz) , for which Biersteker and Selg were awarded the German Theatre Prize DER FAUST for best stage/video design.
