Yaël Koutouan

Yaël Koutouan (she/her), born in 1995, is Black and identifies as queer. She studied theatre studies at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz. Since February 2023, she has been a freelance writer for Theater der Zeit and since October of the same year, she has been writing for Theater heute on occasion. Her master’s thesis “Machtspiele im Theater – Rassismus als belief system” was published by Tectum Verlag in 2022. Her research focusses mainly on issues of race and post-colonial studies. Furthermore, she applies anti-discrimination and intersectional standards to her writing and her work in the cultural field.
