
Sandra Umathum is Professor of Theatre Studies and Dramaturgy at the University of Performing Arts “Ernst Busch” in Berlin. From 2010 to 2012, she was Visiting Professor of Dramaturgy at the University for Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig. She is the author of “Kunst als Aufführungserfahrung”, a book on intersubjective experience in exhibition art (transcript 2011) and the editor of “Disabled Theater” (with Benjamin Wihstutz; diaphanes 2015) and “Postdramaturgien” (with Jan Deck; Neofelis 2018). Her main areas of research are the theory and practice of contemporary theatre and performance art, relations of theatre, performance and visual arts since the 1950s, and contemporary approaches and perspectives of dramaturgy. To promote emerging performance artists, she will curate the event series “Dirty Debüt” (with Björn Pätz and Joshua Wicke) at Sophiensaele Berlin in 2018.
