Anja Kerschkewicz studied Stage and Costume Design at the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin and Scenography at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. Since completing her studies as a Director at the University of Music and Drama Hamburg, she has been working in the independent theatre scene. With the performance collective Frauen und Fiktion (FuF), she develops research-based performances that create new ideas of intersectional equality. Her performance “CARE 3.0”, which she showed at the Treibstoff Theatertage Basel in 2019, was a glamorous celebration of care work with the means of drag performance. In March 2020, “(save me) not” was shown at Theater Oberhausen, in which FuF want to empower people with life stories on the subject of women and violence beyond the victim role. As a curator at the LICHTHOF Theater in Hamburg she leads the platform “WE PRESENT” for emerging young artists. Anja Kerschkewicz was a scholarship holder of the Akademie Musiktheater heute and the Claussen-Simon-Stiftung, and won the Berlin Opera Prize in 2016. Anja has been a volunteer Managing Director of the DfdK (umbrella organisation for the free performing arts in Hamburg) since 2017. Since 2018, she has been giving seminars on performative collective processes at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design and the Berlin University of the Arts.
