Artūrs Čukurs is a Latvian theatre deviser, director, performer and musician based in Riga. He has studied music at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, as well as Directing of Devised and Object Theatre at the Theatre Faculty of The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU). His practice is characterised by a collective approach of creating and thinking through doing. His works deal with personal, poetic and political dimensions of loss, landscape and memory. By working with sound, objects and materiality, Čukurs inquires the relationships between the human, spaces and things in order to seek for different ways how to relate to the world around and within.
