Steffen Schubert

Steffen Schubert was born in Kiel in 1969. He studied conducting and piano in Berlin and Bloomington in the USA and took part in masterclasses in song accompaniment with Aribert Reimann and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, among others. From 1992, Steffen Schubert worked as a répétiteur at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, followed by an engagement as choir director and conductor at the Salzburg State Theatre.

He was also musical assistant to the choir director at the Bayreuth Festival for many years. He has conducted choral rehearsals for the Salzburg Festival, the Zurich Opera House, the Berlin State Ballet and the WDR and NDR radio choirs, among others. Steffen Schubert has been Artistic Director of the Ernst Senff Choir since 2009.
