
Composer Iyad Mohammad was born in 1976 in Gräfelfing near Munich. He received music lessons from 1989 onwards and studied from 1991 to 1994 with a Noor al-Hussein Foundation grant at the National Conservatory in Amman. In addition, he was an al-Hussein Foundation grant recipient at the Belorussian State Music Academy in Minsk, where he wrote his dissertation on Helmut Lachenmann’s music. Iyad Mohammad has written numerous works for various chamber music formations and orchestras and focuses on formal structures in Arab music. He is a lecturer for music theory and history at the Jordanian Academy of Music in Amman.
