
Born in Transylvania, conductor Ferenc Gábor started his musical career as a viola player. From 1986 to 1994 he played in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, since 1994 he has been principal viola player of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. As a conductor he performs around the world: he has conducted chamber music formations, symphony orchestras and opera ensembles from Costa Rica to Cluj in Romania, and in addition the Bochumer Symphoniker, the Berliner Sinfonie-Orchester and several youth orchestras. In 2011 he gave his debut at a concert with Fazil Say at the Konzerthaus. He primarily focuses on music of the 20th and 21st centuries and has premiered numerous works. Since 2002, Gábor has worked with Sinfonietta92 from Berlin, and in 2007 he founded the solo ensemble Ligatura Berlin.
