
Jennifer Torrence is an experimental musician based in Oslo. Her practice includes percussion/performance, artistic research, collaborative projects, curation, composition, etc. She is Associate Professor II of percussion at the Norwegian Academy of Music and a member of Pinquins.
In 2025 Torrence is doing artistic research in the field of Post-percussion pedagogies at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Her music is presented at Ultima, Only Connect, Tectonics, Lampo, Darmstadt, and others. This year she also engages in collaborations on new works with composers and artists like Øyvind Torvund, Clara Iannotta, Kari Watson, Jo David Meyer Lysne, Jessie Marino, Sara Glojnaric, Ase Brunborg Lie and Martin A. Hirsti-Kvam, and ensembles like Alpaca Ensemble, Aksiom, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Norwegian Radio Orchestra.
Before, Torrence was a principal percussionist of Arctic Philharmonic, a curator at nyMusikk, artistic research fellow (PhD) at the Norwegian Academy of Music with the project “Percussion Theatre: a body in between” (2015 – 2018) and a Fulbright scholar. She studied at Oberlin Conservatory, University of California San Diego and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
