Dimitrij Schaad

Dimitrij Schaad was born in Kazakhstan in 1985 and trained as an actor from 2005 to 2009, both at the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding and the Theatre Academy St. Petersburg. After roles at Münchner Kammerspiele and in Essen, he worked at Schauspielhaus Bochum from 2010 to 2013. Since the 2013/14 season, he has been a member of the Maxim Gorki Theater’s acting company in Berlin, where he has worked with directors Sebastian Nübling, Hakan Savaş Mican and Yael Ronen, among others. In 2014, the annual critics’ survey of Theater heute selected him as emerging actor of the year. With Yael Ronen’s ensemble work “The Situation”, he was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen in 2016. His first text for the theatre, “Die Konsistenz der Wirklichkeit” was premiered at the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding in 2017, directed by himself. At the Theatertreffen der Schauspielstudierenden, this work received both the main jury award and the audience award. Beside his work as an actor, director and dramatist, Dimitrij Schaad writes screenplays together with his brother Alex Schaad. In 2016, their film “Invention of Trust” won the Students’ Oscar.
