Naika Foroutan

Naika Foroutan is Professor of Integration Research and Social Policy at the Humboldt University in Berlin, founder chair of the German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) and Director of the Berlin Institute on Integration and Migration Research (BIM) at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Focus areas in her research and teaching include the themes of migration and integration, attitudes towards Islam and Muslims within Germany, identity and hybridity, political Islam and transformation in migrant-impacted societies. Since 2011 she has also led the research project New Islam-Related Topics in Germany (JUNITED) as part of the Young Islam Conference (JIK), sponsored by the Stiftung Mercator. In 2012 she was awarded the Fritz Behrens Foundation Prize for Science that is presented biennially for excellence in research. In 2016 she was presented with the Hoffmann Academic Award by the University of Vechta.
