Igihozo Nsengiyumva Regis, artist’s name Bingo Regis, is a theatre, film and TV actor and playwright, born and based in Kigali, Rwanda.
He was raised in a Christian family where storytelling was an anthem that encouraged family love since his childhood, and his passion grew from there.
Through research, he fell in love with live theatre as a form of storytelling when he was still in high school. Since 2014, he turned theatre acting into a professional career, acting in various theatrical works such as contemporary versions of “Le Malade Imaginaire” in 2016, and “Romeo and Juliet” in 2019, the theatre play “Amararo” in 2020, the theatre play for young audiences “Notre Maison” in 2021, the theatre play “Umutoma Utomoye” in 2022, and more. He also acted in films and TV.
Since 2020, he professionally embarked on a playwriting career where he uses theatrical stories, drawn from Rwandan cultural identity, to explore deep issues in family relationships in Rwanda and across the world for family audiences.
He also took part in various short-term trainings in Theatre Acting and Playwriting by theatre masters such as Dorcy Rugamba (Rwanda), Carole Karemera (Rwanda), Dida Nibagwire (Rwanda), Wesley Ruzibiza (Rwanda) and Mohammed Kacimi (France), the French theatre companies Théâtre Irruptionnel, Théâtre National de Chaillot and Théâtre de la Ville, and the Belgian theatre company Point Zero, among others.
He is currently working on three theatrical plays of his own as a playwright and actor.
