Albert Ostermaier

Munich-based writer Albert Ostermaier became well-known mainly for his poetry and drama writing. He was invited to the Stückemarkt five times between 1994 and 2000 with “Zwischen zwei Feuern” (Between Two Fires) in 1994, “Tatar Titus” in 1997, “The Making of B-Movie” in 1998, “Death Valley Junction” in 1999 and “Letzter Aufruf” in 2000. He has been an in-house playwright at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, at the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel and at the Burgtheater Vienna. In 2012, two premieres of his new plays took place: “Ein Pfund Fleisch” (A Pound of Flesh) at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg and “Schwarze Sonne scheine” (Shine, Black Sun) in Luxembourg. Albert Ostermaier has received many prizes, among them the Ernst Toller Prize, the Kleist Prize, the Bertolt Brecht Prize and the Welt Literature Prize for his literary oeuvre.
