Jakub Čermák is a director, actor, the frontman of the artistic gang Depressive Children Long for Money, and a dramaturg of the Prague cultural cave Venuše ve Švehlovce. He studied Film and Theatre at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and became a participant of the Via Negativa Lab of director Bojan Jablanovec in Ljubljana. In his work he devotes himself to creating updated remakes of classical dramas (“Makropulos”, “120 days of Sodom”) and documentary and experimental theater (“The Love Letter to a Woman We Don’t Love”, “The Martyrdom or Art of Suffering”, “Cartography of the Hell: Home”). An extraordinary act was the first Czech performance with HIV positive actors (“Passion / Fragments”). He has created the documentary production “I trample your graves” for the international theatre festival Divadlo in Plzeň, and he designed the immersive theatre performance “Brothel L’Amour” in 2018, which was created in a Czech-German co-production and won a nomination for the Czech Theatre Newspaper Award.
