Turbo Pascal
Theatre and performance collective Turbo Pascal was founded in Hildesheim in 2004 and has been active in Berlin since 2008. Since 2009, their most important cooperation partner in the independent scene have been Sophiensaele, where the group has been creating interactive stage performances, among them “Selbstbeschwichtigung” (2016) and “Algorithmen” (2014). Virtual worlds – both digital processes and internal and imaginary thought processes – are translated into spatial situations, analogue ways of speaking and interacting and scenarios between performers and audience. Aside from stage formats, Turbo Pascal develop participatory projects in urban spaces or other locations, which a multitude of people participate in, in the form of simple conversation or action formats. Currently, the collective is developing a “Gala Global” at Deutsches Theater Berlin, which will premiere on the theatre’s forecourt in May 2018. Furthermore, Turbo Pascal is active in schools in the context of cultural education. In the context of these projects, pupils and performers come face to face onstage. The production “Der Pate”, featuring one performer of Turbo Pascal and one young performer, was presented at the festival Augenblick mal! in 2017. From 2012 to 2014, Turbo Pascal were affiliated with Theater Freiburg in the context of the “Doppelpass” funding programme of the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
