Theatermacherin
Theatre-maker – Beirut, Lebanon
Participant International Forum 2019
Born in 1983, Raghda Mouawad lived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in Lebanon and studied theatre in France. She has an MA in Theatre from the University Lumière Lyon 2 and undertook intensive training in Dramatic Arts in Lyon. Since 2007, she has been performing in various theatre creations and performances in France, Belgium, Morocco and Lebanon, choosing to work mostly collectively, in unconventional site-specific projects with clear socio-political themes. Consumer society, voyeurism, media manipulation, patriarchal systems, fanaticism, pollution, harassment and unlimited construction at the expense of nature were topics at the centre of the performances she worked in.
She has been a Drama teacher at the International College in Beirut since 2009. In 2018, she co-founded a professional alternative theatre training (YAZAN Professional Actors Training – YPAT) with international trainers and theatre makers to respond to the lack of life-long vocational theatre training.
