Deepika Arwind is a theatremaker and playwright based in Bangalore, India. Her most recent work “No Rest in the Kingdom” (written, performed and directed by herself, produced by Sandbox Collective and supported by Shoonya – Centre for Art and Somatic Practices) toured India and debuted internationally at the Women of the World Festival in Colombo in December 2017. The play deals with the daily misogyny the genteel urbanites are complicit in perpetrating through humour. Her other recent play “The Playwright is Dead” was a shortlisted finalist for The Hindu Playwright Award. She also created “A Brief History of Your Hair” (2015-2016, supported by the India Foundation for the Arts), “Nobody Sleeps Alone” (nominated for The Hindu Playwright Award). “One Dream Too Many”, one of her plays for young people, was presented as a rehearsed reading at The John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in May 2016. Her children’s book “Sarayu and the Creature” (working title) will soon be published by Lé Cosmographe in June 2018.
