Nazanin Sahamizadeh, born in 1985 in Tehran, is a multifaceted artist. She studied Acting and Directing at the Tehran School.
Given her simultaneous interest in theatre and activism, she founded the Verbatim Theatre Group to focus on socio-political issues, especially for women. She chose documentary theatre as a democratic medium to protest against injustice. She illuminates the parts of reality that the powers try to hide.
Her works have been performed at various international festivals and won awards. One of her prominent plays, Manus, achieved significant international acclaim when it was performed at the Adelaide Festival and was published worldwide. Besides theatre, she also works as an actress in cinema.
Following the revolutionary wave of Woman, Life, Freedom in Iran, Nazanin was compelled to emigrate to Germany to work freely. She has collaborated with companies such as freie bühne stuttgart and Theater Rampe to keep following her belief that the theatre can make a change.
