Léon Haase was born in Frankfurt/Main in 1992 and studied Applied Theatre Studies and Performance in Gießen and Istanbul. He worked as an assistant director at Stadttheater Gießen and Staatstheater Darmstadt and was organiser and curator of the 2017 DISKURS-Festival for emerging performative arts, which takes place in Gießen every year. In addition, he initiated, organised and headed the HÜZÜN-Festival for Performance Art at Kunstverein Familie Montez in Frankfurt/Main, which took place for the first time in 2017.
In his artistic and theoretical work, he is interested in issues of body normativity and forms of self-optimisation. During the past years, he developed a series of different works on running and running bodies. He is currently working on a piece on the deconstruction of images of masculinity as they are inscribed into our collective consciousness via the stories of super heroes. The work will be presented in Frankfurt/Main, Tallinn and Bremen, among others.
