Janette Mickan, born in Brandenburg an der Havel in 1983, studied Theatre Studies and Modern German Literature at the Free University of Berlin. She has been a dramaturgy assistant at Centraltheater & Skala Leipzig since the 2009/10 season, where she curated the venue Das Weisse Haus and directed the SPINNWERK play development “Boys don’t cry. Heroes in Crisis” at SPINNWERK. In 2009, she worked at the Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin on the thematic series ‘Visionauts’ and directed the youth project “World Wide Me”. Since 2004, she has also been a member of the theatre collective lunatiks produktion as a dramaturge and performer, including the utopian construction project “LEGOtopia”, the performance “Zur letzten Einkehr’ at the Palast der Republik and the home theatre “livingROOMS”. Guest dramaturgies and residencies have taken her to the German National Theatre in Weimar and the Bunkier Sztuki / Villa Decius Gallery in Krakow. Since 2016, she has directed the Monologue Festival at TD Berlin with Michael Müller. Since 2017, she has held various teaching positions and led workshops, including at the Berlin University of the Arts, the Gorki Theatre and the Junges DT.
