The Romanian dramatist Peca Ştefan was invited to the Stückemarkt in 2010 with the play “Wire and Acrobats”. He studied from 2003 to 2004 at New York University, took up a Royal Court International Residency in 2005 and was Playwright in Residence at Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven in 2007 and 2008. To date, his plays have been translated into English, German, French, Serbian, Polish, Bulgarian, Greek, Estonian, Dutch, Turkish and Italian and have been performed in many countries. He is the founding member of the BLA Theatre Group and has already been awarded numerous prizes, including the Innovation Prize from the Heidelberg Stückemarkt and the Irish Embassy Award for best produced new text in Romania.
